The winner of the 6th edition will be announced during the European Microfinance Network Annual Conference on the 19th of June in Lisbon. #EMN_AC_14 The Mutual-Aid Credit Cooperative for Private Farmers DOVERIE was nominated for its proposal “Loan product Melon Field. The Mutual-Aid Credit Cooperative for Private Farmers DOVERIE has been established in 1996 in Bulgaria. The organisation provides financial services in order to support its members,; mainly agriculture producers and entrepreneurs in rural areas. Melon Field was introduced in 2012 and it is mainly targeted to Roma minority. Traditionally, in Dobrich region Roma are the best melons and watermelons producers but most of them dont own any land. Renting the land is the biggest expense but loans through Melon Field initiative allow them to start and develop agriculture production. Thanks to their businesses, DOVERIE clients are able to pay social insurance and taxes and they create employment for other inhabitants of the region.
