We would like to think that the Craft Chest is more than just a seller of Craft Supplies. Now have to admit here that the children at the Craft Chest flew the nest many moons ago. But the family has its memories that it can share. Regret not creating a journal or scrapbook to share and perhaps embarrass the children (joke) as they got older. One of my fondest childhood pastimes which I did share with the children was blackberry picking. With the fruits of our labour we made a blackberry pie. Now I have to admit here that I used shop bought pastry but my mum and gran prepared their own. The great thing about the whole process is that the experience costs very little. The blackberries were found and collected from country walks but blackberry bushes can be found in towns. Remember to soak the berries in water prior to baking them. Always good to give them a wash. Now baking with your gran or mum may not seem exciting but as I said this was about the whole experience. the enjoyment of the walk, the competition to see who could collect the most berries and finally the fascination of seeing your harvest baked into a delicious homemade pie. With all this in mind we would like to share a video with you.
