Weather Alert from Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center: Prepare for the likelihood of showers with possible gusty thunderstorms through this evening and potentially for another round of heavy rain along with gusty winds during the day Thursday through Thursday night. Through Early Tonight – A line of showers and possible thunderstorms is forecast to move east across the area “during this evening’s rush hour” with the approach of a trough of low pressure. A few storms could produce strong gusty winds. The chance of prolonged locally heavy rain is “low.” A lightning advisory has been issued from 1:30 until 9pm this evening Thursday through Early Friday – As low pressure moves east across the Ohio Valley, it is forecast to pass south of Long Island Friday morning. This system has the potential to produce a widespread heavy rainfall from 1 to 2+ inches across the region with isolated higher amounts. Based on wet antecedent conditions (high soil moisture content), there is a potential for flooding of poor drainage and low lying urban areas as well as fast reacting small streams and rivers.
