Weather: An unusually wet series of frontal systems are likely to impact northern California and southern Oregon with widespread soaking rains Saturday night through Monday night. The time period of the heaviest rainfall is likely to be in the Sunday evening through Monday time frame. While confidence in specific rainfall amounts is only low to moderate at this time...it is likely that total rainfall amounts during the mentioned time period will be close to what normally falls during the entire month of June in many areas. The usually drier Interior Valley locations are expected to receive a half inch to an inch of rain. Other portions of the area should receive one to three inches of rain...with higher amounts expected across portions of Siskiyou County. Temperatures during this very wet episode will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal for daytime highs...in the 60s and 70s in the valleys...and in the 40s and 50s in the mountains. While snow levels will generally remain above ten thousand feet...prolonged exposure to these temperatures combined with the rainfall and cloud cover can easily lead to hypothermia...especially on or near area waterways and in the mountains. Those planning outdoor activities Saturday night through Monday night should consider either canceling plans or preparing well for cool and very wet weather conditions. There is high confidence in a significant rainfall event across the forecast area during this time period. SOURCE: K-DOCK #CoosComNews
