Weather Bulletin Number TEN Tropical Cyclone Warning: Typhoon"ODETTE (USAGI)" Issued at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, 19 September 2013 Typhoon "ODETTE" has gained strength as it moves in a Northwest direction towards Northern Luzon. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 p.m.) 570 km East of Tuguegarao City Coordinates: 17.8°N, 127.7°E Strength: Maximum winds of 160 kph near the center and Gustiness of up to 195 kph Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph Forecast Positions/Outlook: Friday afternoon: 320 km Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan Saturday afternoon: 50 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes Sunday afternoon: 380 km West of Basco, Batanes or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS # Luzon Visayas Mindanao Signal No. 2 (61-100 kph winds is expected in at least 24 hours) Batanes Group of Islands Cagayan Calayan Babuyan Group of Island Apayao None None Signal No. 1 (30-60 kph winds is expected in at least 36 hours) IIocos Norte Ilocos Sur Mt. Province Ifugao Abra Kalinga Isabela None None Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 20 mm per hour (heavy-intense) within the 700 km diameter of the Typhoon. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #2 are alerted against storm surges. "ODETTE" will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas. Residents in these areas are advised to be alert against flashfloods and landslides. Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Occidental Mindoro and Palawan and over the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and of Visayas. The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
