Weather Forecast for KENT – WEDNESDAY 7th January 15. SYNOPSIS: A frontal system will move over us under a south westerly-type airstream in the next 24 hours. TODAY . . . The bright and frosty start to the day will give way to increasing high cloud as we wear onto the rest of this morning, thus making the sun more watery-looking in doing so. That will then lead to a rather cloudy afternoon but I am not expecting the cloud to be thick enough to produce rain until late evening. After a calm start, the wind will also slowly pick up to be fresh to strong south west as we go through the day and it is that which will make todays maximums of 7 C to 9 C (45 F to 48 F) feel quite cold and fresh in nature. Having said all that, you could actually use all this to your advantage in terms of drying the laundry outdoors – if you are desperate enough. TONIGHT . . . We can expect a cloudy and fairly wet night with outbreaks of rain. The cloud base may often be low enough to shroud high ground as hill fog. Itll also be quite windy with a fresh to strong south westerly wind, more especially over prone exposed coastal and hilly areas. All that will keep temperatures very much on the mild side at 11 C (52 F) so I think it is fair to say that a frost wont be likely tonight, but hill fog may tend to impair visibility at times. TOMORROW (Thursday) . . . Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the morning, then hopefully bright or clear spells developing by the afternoon and into the evening. Winds should also moderate temporarily, along with temperatures sticking close to average values at around 8 C (46 F) by day. FRIDAY, WEEKEND and NEXT WEEK . . . Ill keep it simple and just say that itll be unsettled and changeable for a good few days with alternating periods of cloud & rain and some clear/bright spells. Itll also often be windy with occasional strong gales. Temperatures sticking close to average values but tending to feel cold in the wind. Seems that the Atlantic has woken up and wants to play with us. There are tentative signs of things turning colder by around the 17th onwards. Although that has been trending on the outputs for a good few days, its still a very long way off in forecasting terms and thus said in very low confidence (getting well ahead of myself at this point).
