Weather Forecast for Kent – Saturday 7th June ’14. At the moment we have this humid unstable warm air coming in from France, but a cold front is expected to slowly move in from the south later on today. TODAY . . . Although this morning is getting off on a bright start with partial cloud cover, there are one or two isolated ploppy “pre-frontal” type showers creeping slowly northwards over the county as I type this at 7 am. I’m going to lay my cards on the table and say that cloud amounts will increase as we go into the rest of the morning and into the first half of the afternoon with one or two thundery-type showers breaking out at around the middle part of the day. It may not be later on in the afternoon will things start to brighten up again thus leading to a fine evening. So with all that to mind, even though it does look like we may get to miss out on the big thunderstorms at this end, confidence for good spectating and flying conditions for the Folkestone Air Show is still very much on the low side due to cloud cover and showery rain. However, it will be feeling quite warm and muggy with temperatures getting up to as high as 22 C (72 F) inland under calm winds, but somewhat cooler and fresher at 17 C (63 F) around coastal areas due to onshore sea breezes. TONIGHT . . . A dry and settled night with variable cloud amounts and clear breaks. Mist patches may tend to form in the usual prone low lying areas by dawn break. 14 C (57 F) around coastal areas but could get down to quite a chilly 6 C (43 F) in those misty spots inland as winds remain dead calm. TOMORROW (Sunday) . . . Partial cloud cover and sunny periods. A small risk of a passing light shower at around the middle part of the day. Not as muggy and humid but will still get to feel warm in any sunshine we do get as temperatures rises up to 22 C inland. However, it’ll be cooler and fresher at 17 C (63 F) around coastal areas (bear in mind that the seas around us are still quite cold). NEXT WEEK . . . Rather cloudy with the risk of showers for Monday and into Tuesday, then becoming settled, drier and brighter as we go into the rest of the week. Temperatures sticking close to average values but will get to feel warm whenever the sun does stay out for long enough.
