Weather Report from Eskeys Ridge... Its not every year that I - TopicsExpress

Weather Report from Eskeys Ridge... Its not every year that I sleep with the windows open in my room during the night on December 5th. Last night I did. This morning I woke to the sound of a gentle rain. I spent yesterday getting ready for my flight to Indianapolis so Im all set to head out. Last night, The Scofflaws, worked on quite the fitting song - Silver Wings, by Merle Haggard . Whats been amazing for me is going back to revisit these old C&W songs and realizing, now that Im actually learning the words and singing to the music, how talented the folks that wrote them are - The Hag, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Hank, Sr. and the list goes on and on. What fun this has turned out to be. Im having a blast playing with Branson and Dan - they are so versatile, talented and easy to play music with... Ive been blessed having them in my life. I feel like Branson could be one of my own younguns, and thats the truth. Through this precious and brilliant young person, I see the stories and songs of Granny Dell, Berzilla, Inez, Cas & Vergie and even my father being carried far, long and wide even when Im no longer here. As I was driving home from practice, I realized that Ive waited for years for Branson. He is going to be a huge carrier of all this stuff Ive been accumulating for the better part of my life. My grandbabies will learn some of it but they arent really old enough to understand that it takes a lifetime to really feel it and know how important all this is. But Branson gets it. Already at 21, he gets it. And it gives me such hope, my dearest dears, to know this.... When I am just a memory in his heart, he will share with my grands. And he will carry my family into the future with loving and gentle hands. Thank you, young Branson Raines - oh the fun were going to have! So.... Im off to Indiana! Yall hold er down wherever you are.... Love out to you each and every one.... xoxo SK
