Weather conditions improving in Grant County The severe weather - TopicsExpress

Weather conditions improving in Grant County The severe weather conditions affecting Moses Lake have passed. There are currently no reports of significant damage related to today’s storm, and we hope to have a better assessment in the morning. The storm continues to pass over Grant County and is right now moving northwest over Ephrata and Quincy. Wind conditions have calmed a lot across the county (now down to 7-15 mph according to weather station data), but there still may be threat of lightning. Please be vigilant for lighting strikes and any fires. As mentioned earlier, around 8,000 people were safely evacuated from the Grant County Fairgrounds between 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm. We appreciate the cooperation of citizens, the Washington State Patrol, Moses Lake Police and other agencies, and compliment everyone on how well the evacuation went. We also appreciate the expressions of thanks from citizens – not only in person but over social media. These “thanks” were unexpected and we are all humbled by citizens’ words of support. There is no doubt that closing the fair is a tough choice, but it was a decision made easy because everyone’s safety came first. The Fair Board will address issues about the cancellation of Tuesday’s concerts and other events.
