Weddings 2014...No.20 If I told you that I smiled the whole way home and that was 107ks from my wedding would you believe it? Well I did! Reflecting on my beautiful Dearin Park Newport wedding made me truly smile A bitter sweet celebration, this being the sweet but the bitter was when I officiated the grooms mums funeral service early last year. It was lovely to once again see Davids sisters and his dad and family members that celebrated his mums life. Today we were blessed with the most perfect weather, not a cloud in sight and just the hint of a breeze coming off the water front that was welcomed by everyone present. I was so impressed with the bride and her attendants at how they walked down the grassy hill which was very uneven in parts. They did it with grace. No pun intended but the brides name is Grace and she was escorted by her proud father and was very graceful as she approached her waiting groom, David to the beautiful music of four talented musicians, the vocals simply the best! A ring warming started the ceremony. The best man firstly handed them to Graces mother to be warmed and blessed before passing them on. When it was time for the ring exchange their rings had been warmed and the wishes bestowed upon them from all the 100 guests for the couples health and happiness. After the signing of the marriage certificate and before the big announcement of Mr & Mrs I said that it was my honour to be here today and I also said that someone else is here. I said, She is smiling from all the quiet spaces. David smiled and said yes she was and I could hear voices say yes she is here and then everyone erupted in a loud applause. I think that was the moment that my mascara started to run after a few tears appeared and that was also the moment that I realised I was so blessed to have come into this familys life, their sadness and their happiness I have been privileged to be apart of. To journey with them through not only their grief but their happiness is a very rewarding experience and I will always treasure the bond that we now have together. That is why I was smiling all the way home and as I write this my smile hasnt disappeared. Much love to you, the Sedgwick family and much happiness to you both David & Grace. Glenda xx
