Wednesday 19th November 2014. What will be your Story? Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11. The primary purpose of reading the bible is not for entertainment,it is a tome not to be sallied or taken in jest. It is Gods word to mankind. We also do not read the bible to get educated on the things of God nor on ancient history. It is a historic document but not a lesson in mere human advancement or lack therefore. The bible is not about the traditions or culture of the people past but it is the atlas for right living before His Majesty God Almighty. The primary purpose of any meaning reading of the bible is for the reader to allow God to state His case why we should serve, honour and praise Him all the days of our lives. The bible is an owners manual on how an organism known as a human being is meant to function, how to repair it when broken and how not to use it outside its specific tolerance levels. When God inspired the writting of the bible,it was not so that we could be awed at the atrocities that he commited on the indegent people of morden day Israel, but to look and gaze at the enormity of His power over all humanity. If he were human today,God would be facing an indictment before the Human Rights Court at the Hague,Netherlands, but because he is sovereign in His Majesty he does what he wills. When God created mankind he wanted then to have dominion over all the earth and to be His proxy on earth. He wanted us to worship him and live in fellowship with him. Therefore when we read the bible our purpose is not to question why he favoured Jacob and not Esau but to realise that He is omnipotent in his majesty,he does what he wills. The bible is an instruction manual on how we are to relate to him and be obedient to His will for our lives. When we do read the bible we must allow it to change our attitudes towards who God is and help us in our relations with others so that we can live in harmony with others in Gods law. Our reference scripture today clearly states that we need not only know what he seek but should apply the knowledge gained for us to be transformed into his image. We were created in His image blameless and righteous but because of sin we have all fallen short of the glory of God. The bible helps us to regain that glory we had,and goes further to make us joint heirs NOT of this fallen earth but his righteous kingdom of heaven together with Jesus our Lord. How we live our lives today determines with whom we will spend eternity with. If we abide in Gods word in union with Jesus we will spend the time with the Father if not with the angels who were cast into the pit of darkness when they forgot their station and authority in heaven together with satan. Living with the Word of God in our hearts means living in the will of God,abiding in his love and fulfilling ths spirit of his word in all that we do. Today I want to ask each of you to find out were you stand in relation to the Word of God. Are you using it so that Gods grace abounds in your life or as an agent of condemnation for others you consider to be inferior to you in their holiness? At the end of our walk on earth, everyone of us will stand before God and give an account of his life on earth. No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning;no one who keeps on sinning has either seen Him nor known him 1 John 3:6 What will be your story???
