Canapés Served in the Drawing Rooms A Smoked Salmon and Prawn Cheesecake with Avocado, Lime and Coriander Sorbet Our local smokehouse makes some of the best smoked salmon in the country. We use it together with tiger prawns in a rich mascarpone and horseradish cream on a base of Arran oatcakes served with an avocado, lime and coriander sorbet together with a bouquet of home-grown salad leaves and a light dill dressing Served with home baked bread. Tonight’s choices are Parmesan and Cayenne Twists or Sun Dried Tomato and Basil Granary Loaf followed by Cream of Sorrel Soup You are in good company with this light cream soup made with fresh sorrel leaves. The Queen served the same soup at a state banquet for the President of France. Of course she didn’t pick the leaves from our potager, as we did Nasello all’ Palermitana with Caponata Or, in plain English, fillet of hake as the ladies of Palermo make it. A recipe Antony picked up in Sicily during his youth, and one which brings back fond memories. The hake is baked in olive oil infused with anchovies, garlic and tomatoes under a herb crust and served on herb roasted potatoes together with a warm Sicilian salad of tomatoes, celery and aubergines, seasoned with tears of nostalgia! followed by Scottish Strawberries with Raspberry Sauce Strawberries grown in the tropical paradise that is Scotland, marinated in home made damson gin and served with a fresh raspberry sauce together with home made basil ice cream and wee white chocolate and hazelnut shortbread hearts Or A Selection of Excellent Cheeses A selection of Scottish cheeses, featuring Arran cheeses from our local award-winning cheesemaker and served with fresh grapes and celery, together with chutney made from our own plums and apples, and a selection of Arran oatcakes and water biscuits (£6.75 as an extra course) Coffee and Petit Fours served in the Drawing Rooms (Cappuccino or Espresso £2.50) £45.00 Should you wish to discuss this menu, please contact us before 5pm, as changes cannot be made after then
