Wednesday, 4th September, 2013. THE VALUE OF FRIENDSHIP “And Jonathan… loved Daniel as he loved his own soul.” 1 Samuel 20:17. A friend is one who brings out the best in you not one who kindles your weaknesses and waters your negative attributes. Your friend is that person who is either going to your direction or believes in the direction which your life is going to and is willing to support you. A friend is one who stands with you in the face of persecutions and trials, speaks words of motivation and encouragement. A friend is one who sees where you are going to, even when you are still without form or comeliness. A friend sees your wonderful destination even when you don’t look like where you are going to. The story of Jonathan and David illustrates the value of friendship. Though David was hunted by the demented King Saul, he drew encouragement from his friend, Saul’s son. This friendship was characterized by trust, understanding and encouragement. How difficult it would have been for David to endure this unjust persecution without the nourishment of friendship based in the Lord. Hence, the benefits of David and Jonathan’s friendship are reminders of the need to nurture the friendships God has given us. QUOTE: Chance makes our parents, but choice makes our friends. WORD OF PRAYER: My Father, give me friends who are not enemies in disguise in Jesus’ name. Amen!
