Wednesday, August 20 Author: Quinn Perkins Basic Idea: We can be filled with His Spirit to empower us on our mission Scriptures: Ephesians 3:19 “…and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” [NASB] Ephesians 5:18 “ And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit…” [NASB] Devotion: We’ve all felt it—the cold sweats, quickening heart rate, and sheer fear. This nervousness creeps up from time to time, but it especially rears its head when we are about to take a step of faith. Thankfully, Christ sent His Spirit to live within us, filling us to the very core of our being with His love and supernatural courage. In fact, any other source to which you may look for a little extra courage only leads to sin, which is possibly one of the reasons Paul says in Ephesians 5 “do not get drunk with wine…but be filled with the Spirit.” Take a moment and consider how you might change your world (and the world) if you let the Holy Spirit be the source of your courage, allowing His love to consume you, driving out all fear from your life. He has called you to a mission, but He did not plan for you to do this mission alone. He has given you His Spirit to empower you to do far more than you ever dreamed! Prayer: Lord, I ask that you would fill me with Your Spirit—invade every part of my being! Help me to experience a love so powerful it drives out all fear so You alone are the source of my strength on this mission!
