Wednesday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time, Year A. Reflection by Rev. Fr. Kevin Oselumhense Anetor (Uromi Diocese) Mt 18:15-20 The Reconciliation Formula! Its usually a difficult thing to be reconciled to someone who has offended us in one way or another. Its even more difficult when that person is a difficult human being. But the right step always begins with trying to make the other person see why youre offended, in the hope that theyll understand and maybe apologise. But it doesnt always end there. Jesus tells us that persons can indeed refuse this private approach. In which case other persons should be involved. But when this is done and he/she still refuses to be reconciled, the matter should then be brought before the community of Gods people with Christ as head. Hopefully the matter may not graduate to the final stage... The prayer of agreement is so-called because it involves a unity of persons for a common goal. We cannot be prayerful if we dont agree. Again, we may not be able to bind or lose anything amidst strife, malice, envy backbiting or jealousy. Do you have someone to be reconciled with today? Why dont you make the initial move? Prayer Father, I need Your grace to be able to forgive those who have offended me and the humility to ask forgiveness of those Ive offended, Amen. Good morning dearest friends, God bless your day ahead.
