Wednesday – Well the last day in the UK turned out to be a long one. Spent a few hours Bluewater shopping centre and bought a few bits and pieces and a new suit case to take them back to Oz. Later on caught up with Amanda before heading to the Hotel arriving around 11.00pm. For a change found the hotel easily, unloaded the car, and returned it to the rental company and dropped off the keys in the night safe. But something was missing, I couldn’t find my phone. I knew I had it earlier, so I must have left it in the car. Eventually got through to rental company, who will come over at the end of their shift. Meet them around 1:00am, but although they had the keys to the night safe, they didn’t have the keys for room where the safe was located. Will have to try again in the morning. Eventually in the morning was able to locate the phone which fell between the seat and console. A bit of excitement to end our UK leg. Dubai – Hotel was fantastic, we had access to the executive lounge where they provided breakfast, afternoon High tea, and evening drinks with Canapés. However it was too hot to be outside, so we went to an air-conditioned shopping centre, unfortunately their wheelchairs were all out, and the hotel didn’t allow their outside the property. So it was only a quick visit, but we will return the next day after visiting the Burj Khalifa tower. Most of the photos are from either the hotel or the tower. Spent a few hours at the shopping centre, it certainly has all the big name shops, but I am not sure if there are real bargins. Impressions of Dubai- very modern city with all the big name shops. Would like to visit when it is cooler, as this time of year limits what you can do comfortably. Finally on our way home, trip to KL was uneventful, although Caroline was not impressed with Emirates. On the second leg we were delayed leaving KL due to a storm, however there were further delays when the plane was diverted to Adelaide. The official reason was fuel shortage, however we wondered if there was incident which required the plane to land. Finally arrive in Melbourne a few hours late, only to find our new suitcase had broken during the flight, it looks like it may have been dropped. We eventually got to bed around 4:00am local time. I have been at work for a few days now, the holiday is starting to blur, it won’t be long before it is just a distant memory. Overall we enjoyed the holiday, I am sure Caroline is already planning the next one.
