Wedsnesday, Sept. 24, Arden Cottage, Williton, Somerset, England I just checked into Arden Cottage, a lovely thatched roof B and B that dates back to 1450, after successfully completing my hike of the Greenway in the Quantock Hills. The day was lovely, sunny and breezy. I left Pound Farm in Bishops Lydeard at 9 am this morning, waiting for a brief rain shower to pass, then hiked to Cothelestone Manor and along the Greenway through the villages of West Bagborough, Triscombe, and Crowcombe, then on to Bicknoller village where I caught a bus to Williton. During the entire 11-mile hike I didnt encounter any other hikers on the path!! Tomorrow after Janes full English breakfast I plan to explore some coastal areas and look for fossils on the fossil-rich beach at Kilve. Its been a good trip so far, highlights including nearly winning the Pub quiz in Redhill, visiting 4 cathedrals, including the impressive cathedrals at Lichfield and Wells, visiting Malmesbury Abbey where the first King of England, Athelstane, is buried, and trying my hand at bell-ringing in the Norman church at Alderton.
