Wee hours update. The eye of Arthur has passed north of Hatteras and Buxton up Pamlico Sound and is offshore of Avon and Salvo. We lost power around 1am which was amazing considering the winds we were experiencing. Cape Hatteras Electric Co op has a great program for maintenance that keeps things in shape all year long. The right hand side of the storm and the eyewall is not a fun experience. Our house has shuddered like a dog was literally was picking up and shaking it in his mouth side to side. The cracks, creaks and groans dont help. Very worried about our neighbors to the south in Ocracoke and to the North as the storm approaches them as it does seem as if it is strengthening? The Sound was way out, dry almost and now we are awaiting the surge of its return here in Hatteras Village. Feeling overwhelmed by all the messsages of support! Be safe everyone! Beth Midgett
