Week 1 - Social Matters For Jan 3, 2015 at HopeSide Community Church Are You Ready For Jesus? John 13:34-35, 1 John 4:16-21 by Elder Henry Pittman, Evangelist and Church Planter We are glad to welcome Elder Henry Pittman to HopeSide’s pulpit this week. (His son, Leland Pittman, spoke at HopeSide sometime ago.) Bro. Henry Pittman was ordained as an Elder of the Mitchellville SDA Church of the Allegheny East Conference of SDA. Elder Pittman is a third generation SDA who was baptized in the summer of 1976 at the Wheaton SDA Church and re-baptized in the fall of 2011 at the Clarksburg SDA Church. He focuses on the following areas of the Lord’s ministry: Church Administration, Evangelism reference church planting, Men’s Ministries, Disability Ministries, Bible Study, and Counseling. Elder Pittman has been married for 27 years and has two sons; his oldest is Bro. Leland Pittman and is a senior at Washington Adventist University. His youngest is 19 and attends a special needs school called St. Coletta of Greater Washington D.C. The first week of the month is focused on Social Matters. Here’s a quote to reflect on this theme: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. - John 13:34 Our first Fellowship Luncheon for 2015 will be held after the divine service in the Fellowship Hall. Feel free to bring a veggie dish or platter, fruits or fruit platter, ice cream, juices or a dessert of your choice. All are invited. Please remember to bring something your lunch. Please lift the following in your prayers: The Pandit and Nowrangi families who mourn the passing of their matriarch, Mary, on Jan 1, 2015. She was 90. Miss. Rose Bara for healing. Miss Than Than for healing and strength to bear her illness. For Miss. V, Ps children so that they will turn back to God and for Sister S to help her find a job and stability in her family.
