Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups: 5 Sleepers Who May Still Be - TopicsExpress

Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups: 5 Sleepers Who May Still Be Available: Latavius Murray and LeGarrette Blount are great fantasy adds but only for those that get to the wire first. For the rest, the thrill of the hunt takes precedence as the search for deep sleepers on the wire continues throughout the week. Just last week, those hunters may have caught Murray before his 23-point outburst. The next Murray is right around the corner but only for those owners who are serious about unearthing him. As far as potential candidates go, look no further than the following five names. Anthony Dixon, RB, Buffalo Bills (14.3 percent owned) It seemed a matter of time before Anthony Dixon broke through with the Buffalo Bills. Now the owner of 10 or more carries in four of his last five games, Dixon posted a season-high 11 points last week against the New York Jets thanks to 12 carries for 54 yards and a score. Keep in mind that those Jets still surrender just the seventh-fewest points to backs this season. Dixons 12 opportunities led the team. It was more looks than Fred Jackson saw and twice as many as Bryce Brown got as he continues to fade. For a 6-5 team hoping to keep the playoff bid alive, no matter how slim it may be, the coaching staff in Buffalo is sure to ride the hot hand. Right now, that would be Dixon, whose next two out of three opponents (Cleveland, Green Bay) rank 16th or worse against backs this year. Daniel Herron, RB, Indianapolis Colts (15.2 percent owned) In place of Trent Richardson, in terms of fantasy relevancy, steps Daniel Herron, who posted 96 total yards to Richardsons 43 last week. How the game unfolded tells the whole story. The two split carries in the first half, but Herron saw most of the work in the second. Even a fumble in the red zone did not make the coaching staff go away from him. Look, Herron scored just seven points last week, he has 13 on the year, but the staffs willingness to finally go away from Richardson has made it quite apparent that the man they call Boom is the most talented back on the roster. A top back on an Andrew Luck-led offense is always worth an add. This is especially the case for Herron, who makes a difference on the ground and through the air. Feel free to add in the fact he gets Washington and Cleveland in the coming weeks. Herron is the definition of a great stash. Charles Johnson, WR, Minnesota Vikings (0.3 percent owned) The Minnesota Vikings are not exactly the team many owners would feel comfortable turning to for help during playoff season, but keep an open mind about Charles Johnson. Johnson exploded onto the scene last week with three catches for 52 yards and a score—good for 13 points. The real story, though, is that Johnson—on a team with Cordarrelle Patterson, Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph—has become rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewaters favorite target. The only problem with that, of course, is illustrated nicely by NFL Networks Albert Breer: Put it into perspective: Johnson had a team-high 11 targets. The next closest was Jennings with six. At some point, Bridgewaters rapport with Johnson is going to improve. Fantasy owners will want to be there when it does. Johnsons next two opponents (Carolina Panthers and New York Jets) rank among the 12 teams that surrender the most points to wideouts this season. Another target-happy day is likely to produce an epic clip. Kenny Stills, WR, New Orleans Saints (15.7 percent owned) One of last years best sleeper plays on a weekly basis is back at it again with rookie wideout Brandin Cooks out for the season with an injury. In the New Orleans Saints first game since losing Cooks, Kenny Stills exploded back onto the scene and set career highs with eight catches and nine targets. Those opportunities turned into eight grabs for 98 yards and nine points. The only player to outpace Stills in the targets department last time out was tight end Jimmy Graham. Backs will continue to soak up plenty of targets as well, but it is clear, Stills is back on the radar as an every-week option. Good news: The upcoming schedule is a cupcake. Four of Stills next five opponents rank among the 11 teams that give up the most points to wideouts this year. Few better sleeper plays exist down the playoff stretch than Drew Brees favorite deep target. Tim Wright, TE, Patriots (4.5 percent owned) Players out of New England are always risky thanks to the unpredictable behavior of coach Bill Belichick, but Tim Wright seems a safe add as a high-upside stash. Wright scored a season-high 15 points last week for his third trip to double digits this season. Five catches created 36 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but more importantly, he played 61 snaps, a far cry from his previous season high of 21. As Christopher Price of WEEI points out, Wright is quite reliable, too: In other words, Wright is going to produce at an impressive clip when he actually gets playing time. Wright is one of the better TE1 options overall if he is guaranteed the same amount of snaps each week. He is not, but as far as high-upside stashes go—especially at such a volatile position—Wright trumps all.
