Week 3 – Our love towards GOD. Over the last couple of weeks we have learned who God is and we have learned what that means to us through “The Plan of Salvation”. This week we are going to look at What God says we should do to show our love to Him. We covered the fact that GOD is love and we covered how He loves us. So what does our love mean to Him? Let take a look at that question. There are many scriptures in the Old Testament and New Testament that tell us that we should love God with all our hearts and all of our souls. Deuteronomy 10:12-13 12 And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13and to observe the LORDs commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? Joshua 22:5 5 But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul. Matthew 22:37 37 Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Mark 12:30 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. So as you can see God has loves us with everything that He is, he expect no less from us. We are to love him with everything that we are and in doing so, we will inherit great rewards. Show GOD our love is easy and hard at the same time. What I mean is; All GOD expect is for us to obey his commandments and live our lives like Jesus lived his. But many times we let this world get in the way of showing GOD our love. Luke 11:28 28 But he said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it! John 14:21-24 21 They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them. 22Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, Lord, how is it that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world? 23Jesus answered him, Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me. 2 John 1:6 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment just as you have heard it from the beginning--you must walk in it. As you can see it is pretty easy to show GOD our love. All we have to do is obey is commandments and live like Jesus did…… That’s easier said than done. The tricky part is we are to be in the world, but not of the world in our walk with the Lord. What this means is that we need to be careful in how we deal with one another, and that we don’t get caught up in worldly ways. Matthew 6:24 24 No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. Matthew 7:2 2 For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Matthew 10:37 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; What these verse teaches us is that we can’t love anything or anyone more then we love GOD. GOD has to be first! We can sum it all up with one verse. John 14:15 Jesus said: 15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Read John Chapter 14 Memory verse; Mark 12:30 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
