Week 4 of training for Seattle to Portland. Goal was 120 miles. Actual miles was 129.5. Climbs totaled 5837. That is more than a mile in climbs straight up. Here are some tidbits from my week: 1) it is a bad idea to practice drafting with Curtis Mays when it is raining because his back tire kicks up enough water/dirt to give me a dirty water shower ... but the additional speed without additional effort is probably worth it 2) instead of dead salamanders squashed by cars, I saw several lives ones today. Brown on top and bright orange on the bottom. Adorable. 3) seeing a shattered ceramic mug AND spoon on the side of he road makes me imagine somebody leaving their coffee on their cars roof 4) I ride by every roadkill praying it isnt still moving whether possum, raccoon, rat, bullfrog, deer, dog, cat, mole, salamander ... I marked one spot on the road by a dried-out rat all last summer ...
