Week five is a table set for Providence in our Esther---Its tough being a woman series. Here are a few highlights from this week. The Jews, Esther and her maids, fasted and prayed for three days. She then approached the King with determination and won favor. The King and Haman joined her for a banquet. Hamans plot to kill all the Jews was still firmly in place. Day Threes points about the foundation of our fragile egos stand out to me: 1. Christs purpose in calling us to deny ourselves is that wed deny our selfishness, ambition, pasts, or any damaged emotions the right to cheat us of His far higher plans for us. 2. God designed the human psyche. He knows that nothing leaves us more hollow than being full of ourselves. We have no greater burden than our own egos. ....human ego is about as strong as a cheap balloon bouncing around in a room of sharp needles. 3. Human character is never more flawed than when one person can reach his highest only when another is swept in the depths. 4. A godless man had no idea the well of divine power a person could access from praying knees. 5. One reason we desperately need to know our standing in Gods eyes is so we arent consumed with high standing in our own eyes or the eyes of others.
