Weekly Branson.Com Table Rock Lake Fishing Report – August 22 August 22, 2013 at 05:48PM Central Pro Am Association Guide and tournament fisherman, Eric Prey. BRANSON, Mo., August 22, 2013 — A comprehensive weekly fishing report on Branson, Missouri’s Table Rock Lake. Table Rock Lake covers 43,100 surface acres and has 857 miles of shoreline so this report covers the portion of Table Rock Lake that most people staying in the Branson area would typically be fishing and is submitted under the auspices of the Central Pro- Am Association (CPAA) by guide(s) who are actively involved in guiding on almost a daily basis. The level of Table Rock Lake as of 1600 on August 22 is 916.96. The Seasonal Conservation Pool, normal level, of Table Rock Lake at this time of year is 917.0. Table Rock Lake by Eric Prey, FocusedFishing Branson Area: Branson: Fishing guides have seen the Corps. Of Engineers pull the lake back down normal summer pool over the past week. With most of the water pulled out of the bushes fish have moved back out to a normal summer pattern. In Branson fishing guides have been targeting fish with a combination of drop shot rigs and Jewel football jigs. Schools of spotted bass have been holding between 25’ – 35’ deep on gravel points and humps, Tightlines UV finesse worms worked close to the bottom on a drop shot rig will produce. These same points will have smallmouth and largemouth holding a little shallower early and late in the day; Jewel football jigs in green pumpkin candy with a UV jig trailer has been the top presentation. Kimberling City Area: There is still a solid topwater bite early and late in mid lake; Branson fishing guides have been using spooks and sammies around standing timber close to main lake and secondary points in major creek arms to catch schooling fish. As the day wears on fish will hold tighter to the bottom and can be caught on Jewel football jigs and Carolina rigged UV plastics. Look for “roll off” areas where flat gravel points drop into deep water to be the most productive spots, work Jewel football jigs and Carolina rigged UV hogs and 6” finesse worms from shallow to deep to draw strikes. James River: The water has finally cleared up in the James River. Branson fishing guides have been targeting fish with a combination of shallow baits early and moving out deeper once the sun comes up. Early in the day fish can be caught on weightless UV Senkos in UV green around flooded laydowns and other wood cover on flats in the back of large creeks and on the main lake. As the sun comes up the bite transitions to deeper drop offs near channel bends. Deep crankbaits, Jewel football jigs and Carolina rigged UV baits have all been effective in these areas. White River: The best bite on the lake is on the White River; from Baxter to Shell Knob fish can be caught on Jewel football jigs, Tightlines UV finesse worms on a drop shot rig and UV beavers on a Jewel Squirrel head. Look for most of the fish to be holding on main lake gravel points from 25’ – 35’ deep. Further upstream the bite moves shallower; look for fish to be around brush and rock piles from 15’ – 25’ deep, Tightlines UV 8” and 10” ripple tail worms and UV hogs have been the best offerings in dense cover. The Kings River has been hot, shallow crankbaits, Jewel Flippin’ jigs and UV ripple worms have been effective around laydowns, log jams and stump fields on flats and in flat pockets.
