Weekly Topic (December 14-20) FEND OFF FOOD PUSHERS (Continued) What are some of your successful ways to deal with food pushers? Are you practicing your responses so it won’t feel like you’re put on the spot and don’t know what to say. Practicing will allow the answer to come off the tip of your tongue without a delay and you can move on to something else. Most of the time the food pushers are members of our family, and even though they know we are trying to lose weight they think the holidays are off limits for “dieting”. When you think about it, what are they really looking for when they push food on us? More than likely it’s not because they think we don’t eat enough, but they are really looking for compliments about the dish they prepared. And we are just like those members of our family; we make a special recipe also and want the compliments. We like it even better when we know we have made a healthier dish and everyone loves it. So think about it differently and push back with compliments; it won’t matter if it is about the food or not. Is there anything else we need to push back on? How about your activity level? Are you keeping up your exercise routines or have you pushed them to the back burner for the holidays. Now is the time to push back and find some way to get more activity in. Walking the malls and aisles of the grocery stores help to get our steps in but sometimes that is not enough. Keeping some sort of activity up during the holidays will make it easier to get back into the swing of it in the new year. Come join us in a remaining meeting this week to learn and practice how to handle food pushers without offending anyone. Don’t forget your ‘Share Your Success’ card. If you are getting your sixth BRAVO this week, you will receive your Winter Share Your Success award, the adorable SNOWFLAKE. Congratulations to those who already received their snowflake. Next week, if you weighed in all 4 weeks of December, you’ll get your $5.00 discount on any product in the meeting room priced over $7.50 that is not already reduced in price.
