Weight Training - Let me say that the myth of “you will bulk - TopicsExpress

Weight Training - Let me say that the myth of “you will bulk up quickly lifting weights” --- this is false. Your eating regimen AND the amount of weight AND the lifting regimen will determine if you bulk or tone. Generally, for each pound of muscle you gain, you burn 35 to 50 more calories each day. Furthermore, studies have shown that adding weight training to your cardio routine increases after-burn, so that once youve showered and settled into your recliner, your body will continue to burn calories. Also, healthy bones need weight training. Regular weight-training has been shown to increase bone density, which can help protect you from osteoporosis. What are “heavy” weights? “Heavy” depends where you are in your training regimen. What is “HEAVY” for you may be light for another individual. I lift heavy twice a week. I do not desire to bulk so I monitor my protein intake and the amount of weight I lift. BOTTOM LINE - it is still the same ---- CONSISTENCY is the key for a successful workout regimen regardless of your goal. However, if you do not feed the body a healthy intake daily, you are spitting in the wind. SET A GOAL AND STICK TO IT!!!!
