Weird case of the week #1: Nako a 5 year old papillon came in with a strange draining sore in the inguinal area. Closer inspection of the hole revealed a live critter within. Forceps were applied and a Cuterebra larva was pulled out! These worms are normally parasitic on squirrels, but occasionally they will attack dogs. The offending pest was removed and disposed of, and Nako and his owners went home in a happier frame of mind minus the worm.
