Weirdest Facebook experience ever...This morning I woke up to someone elses newsfeed! Not one friend or recognizable name (mostly foreign names) and the content in every post was about children (mostly child abuse), and parenting. At first I felt lost - where are all my friends and familiar content? It was so odd to glimpse the world through someone elses filters and bizarre to clearly see how FB feeds us each so totally differently. But, It was even more interesting/profound to experience for a moment, who am I if everything I identify with suddenly disappears? Just imagine what if would it be like to actually wake up to a totally different identity and all who you thought you were was gone forever. I scrolled through this very different world for awhile, allowing myself to be touched by this existential dilemma before logging out and logging in again, wondering if my account was hacked...?? Ahhh... sigh of relief as my friends and familiar feed returned, ego identity temporally reinforced once again - how tenacious it is!
