Welcome 2015 Winter Winter Storm Warning : Laval area Issued at 12:32 p.m. EST Saturday 3 January 2015 Hazardous winter conditions are expected. A major low pressure system from the Southwestern United States will move up toward the Great Lakes basin today. As it moves toward the province of Quebec, the system will intensify and give winter storm conditions over Western Quebec beginning this afternoon. These conditions will spread to Central Quebec this evening and east of the province on Sunday. Snowfall amounts between 15 and 25 centimetres with moderate to strong easterly winds will generate blowing snow that could be widespread. As the warm front associated with the system approaches, snow will become mixed with ice pellets then change over to freezing rain in several regions. Between 5 and 15 millimetres of ice build-up is expected.
