Welcome New Members to the Battle of the Nations UK - TopicsExpress

Welcome New Members to the Battle of the Nations UK Federation. It is good to see you here, and look forward to meeting you all at a National Training or Public Event over the summer! As part of what we do, we need to be protected, by Public Liability Insurance. That means, should an accident happen, and either a member of the public, or premises be damaged, we are covered from claims. If we are in an old building, that could be costly, if we hit a member of the public that could be very substantial. Therefore, we need all members to be official members, to have completed the online registration form, at: battleofthenations.org/membership/ … and to have paid the membership fees – currently set at £20 per person, per year. After completing the form you will be sent to PayPal, where you can either pay through your PayPal account, or if you do not have one, you can conduct a normal checkout procedure, where you enter your card details etc. At the moment, this also includes members who are there not just to fight, but to be support personnel – helping the fighters dress (squires) giving fighters water between rounds of fights (water bearers), trainers, who are there to conduct training of members, or Marshals – the referees of the fighting. Membership does have a three month probationary period, where, due to various reasons, we, as part of the National Executive Team, may consider that joining forces of group and member is not beneficial to all. The more technical explanations are available in our policy documents, available from the link below. battleofthenations.org/about-us/battle-of-the-nations-uk-federation-policy-documents/ Of course, we want the public to be attending and to be able to try out the sport, even if it is not in armour, but using padded equipment, tactics drills, which could be done in normal sporting clothing, or other activities which the Club, Regions, or Chapters use to practice. Therefore, those who are interested in joining can attend two free introductory sessions before becoming members. Chapter Heads, regional Head will keep a check on this, so help them to help you. Membership would save you from a lot of personal grief should anything happen. Be warned, to be good, you will need to concentrate on your fitness, which includes some strength work, but cardio – stamina – heat tolerance is more beneficial. Members can participate at all levels of skill but those of the highest standard could potentially enter pro fights etc. Should you wish to learn more skill based work, we would suggest you enter the training for Duel category, 1 v 1 – or PRO fighting – Duel category, with more violence allowed. These are all things you may discuss with Chapter Heads, Regional Heads, our Training Officer, or other members, in our FaceBook group: https://facebook/groups/BattleOfTheNationsUKFederation/ We also have a private, secret, members only group, so we can discuss things away from the public. The main page and main groups do have public there, so we wish to keep posts 12 rated….. we will have children reading…. Also, at events, while it can be hard to not swear, we need to keep a lid on it – we are in the public domain, and we are often guests at events – we wish to keep our relationships with event organisers, traders, the public and fellow fighters civil and courteous - without swearing. REMEMBER – we film a lot of our events, and the cameras do pick up EVERYTHING that is being said – I normally have to wipe and drown out the audio due to various slips or controversial statements…. OTHER PEOPLE FILMING and posting on FB or YouTube WILL NOT DO THAT – REMEMBER THAT PLEASE!!! So, with that, I hope you enjoy being a member of the UKfed – in your region, and in your chapter(s) Remember too, you can be a member of any chapter you wish, or go to any training you wish to travel to, be it chapter, region and of course, the national trainings. Try to only be members of chapters you will reasonably be attending – maybe not everyone, but a majority – or the training will be diluted and will fail. THANKS!!! The Battle of the Nations UK Federation National Executive Team.
