Welcome to a world where compassion no longer seems to exist and is praised when it suddenly appears. Just like a gem found in the depths of the ocean and uncommon for the everyday man. A world where individuals are defined according to their: nationality, culture, religion, colour, gender and much more. Labels upon labels are placed upon one’s soul, causing one’s self to vanish behind the worldly matters. A world that recognizes the differences created by society instead of our similarities. Differences used to enhance the self-deceiving ways of the ego, allowing individuals to feel superior over one another. Welcome to a world where humility is concerned to be a weakness or a historical trait. A world that no longer considers the value of our respected elders. A world that no longer safeguards the innocence of our younger ones. A world which makes my heart tremble with fear and at times with unbelief, while I become the witness of a world that is a stranger to me. A world that has changed its standards in the process of exchanging beautiful values for modern ways. Even though change is necessary and a never ending process I cannot help wonder, where do we draw the line? When changes interfere with our values and respect for one another? Despite the heaviness in my heart for the lack of values, compassion and love for the world and all its creations around me, I know that a beautiful world starts with myself and my home. We as individuals are responsible for the world around us. A responsibility, which we must fulfill through continuous contemplation and reflection upon our actions, behavior, intentions and others, while conveying it to those around us through teachings and sharing our experiences, love and light. As parents we need to be role models for our children and teach our children what it means to be compassionate. To teach them the importance of equality and respect for one’s elders and in return we must show our respect to them. It is our responsibly to give them beautiful values and morals, wrapped in love and showered with our blessings. Values to cherish forever and used each and every step of their journey ahead. Your children are your contribution to the world. Like angels, you must safeguard them and show them the right way, without constraining them to your own world, as the world you grew up is no longer here. Both parents and their children will explore the world as it is for the first time, the only difference is that as elders you surpass them in experience and wisdom. Yet they surpass you with their purity and innocence. We as a family (a Global Family) must walk together and it is our responsibility to make the first step and to respect one another, while encouraging each other to grow and develop a better self – a never ending journey pursued together and yet on a personal level.
