Welcome to day 19 of 21 Days of Prayer. Im glad you are joining us on this prayer journey. We are praying the prayer of Jabez every day this week. It is a Your kingdom come, Your will be done (Matthew 6:10) kind of prayer. This morning I want to focus on the fourth part of that prayer. First we pray, God, bless me indeed, then Lord, enlarge my territory. Then, we pray, “Let Your hand be with me,” Now, let me give you a warning: If all three of these things happen the devil is going to be mad. The fourth thing Jabez prayed was, Keep me from harm. We need to pray for Gods protection as we fulfill His calling. (1 Peter 5:8) The devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. (Psalm 3:1-3) O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. Remember, our whole series this month, Teach Us To Pray, has been focused on the Lords Prayer where Jesus encourages us to pray, And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:13) In Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul is preparing us for spiritual battle. Something we need to remember is that prayer is not preparation for spiritual battle, prayer is spiritual battle. Thats why Paul spent some time letting us know how to prepare for being a prayer warrior. Then, he encourages us to pray in the Spirit. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:18) Lets prepare ourselves to have the God of angel armies by our side as Chris Tomlin sings about in our song today. Lets claim the victory over the enemy before the battle ever begins. There is great power in prayer. Particularly when Gods people join together in one accord for the pulling down of the strongholds of the enemy! Have a blessed day!!
