Welcome to the 2014 Fisher House Hero & Remembrance Run. As you - TopicsExpress

Welcome to the 2014 Fisher House Hero & Remembrance Run. As you can see we are a little different than your average run. This event is put on by volunteers and with donations so the community can be a part of it without having to pay to participate, our thought is that they already paid the ultimate price so you dont have to. Because of this sometimes things change without notice. Once again we are expecting a great turnout of several thousand. This may cause a few delays in traffic due to the fact Ford Island is a one way on bridge, please be patient.nAll traffic will be directed to come down the Chaffee side of the road, Enterprise will be closed to traffic for safety reasons, it will be dark. We highly encourage you to make your way towards the bridge by about 0500 or you run the risk of not making it over the bridge before it is closed and you will miss the actual run. Once you come across the bridge you will be directed to park at the far end of the bridge. It will be dark before the run but its better to wait on island so you know you will make it. The wonderful MARFORPAC Marine Band will be playing to get everyone pumped up prior to the event. DumBellFitness will get us warmed up and we have an awesome guest MC, AUGGIE T, who will keep it fun Im sure. We will also have 3 radio stations along the course to keep you motivated. At 0610 we ask that all military units get in formation in the center of the island between, Enterprise and Chaffee where the main stage area and radio station will be set up so we can present the Traveling Bronzed Boots. At 0630 we will start the official part of the ceremony. Once that ends and we render military honors, the Patriot Guard Style escort will lead us off, then military units in formation and then individual participants. Motorcycles will be directed to turn onto Enterprise Ave from the far side of the island and will stage up at the corner of OKane, Combat Vets Motorcycle Club will be the lead off riders, I highly encourage everyone to bring out your flags. All individual participants will be directed to stage up on OKane from the Stop sign back towards the water. We do ask that you do not spend too much time on the course with the boots due to safety reasons. Immediately after the run we will be picking the boots up and putting them in a display on the corner of Enterprise & OKane you are welsome to help. There you will be able to find the names you are looking for much easier. The display will be out from the 6th to the 14th of Sept, dont forget your camera. On Sept 11th at 0900 we will have a small prayer service amongst the boots. Please join us and spread the word. Please remember that this year we have been asked to not allow pets, there was a typo in the newspaper that said we could, that was incorrect. Please dont forget your water and sunblock. Portable Johns will be located on the corner of Enterprise and OKane. There will be water bottle stations at the end of the course. Please do not throw your bottles away, you can place them in a boot upside down or recycle them. Again, we hope you and your family enjoy this event, find a friend or loved one and share your photos in hopes that a Gold Star Family sees them and know that we have not and will never Forget the sacrifice of our Fallen Service Members.
