Welcome to the “iStore” Imagine walking into your favorite - TopicsExpress

Welcome to the “iStore” Imagine walking into your favorite department store… Your phone opens up a map of the store’s departments and automatically guides you right to the pair of shoes you researched from home earlier that morning. As you approach the shoes, your phone pushes you a new message. As a returning customer you’ve received a 15% discount. You try on a few pairs and find the right size. Unfortunately, the color you want isn’t in stock. You’re given a few suggestions for other shoes you might like. Tailored to suit your style preferences. But you decline. You want these shoes. Not a problem. Simply open the app and tap “Deliver to my home.” Your credit card is automatically billed. Your 15% discount automatically applied. You leave the store. Your shoes arrive the very next day. This is just a small part of the world of possibilities opened up by micro-location and iBeacons. It’s already happening, too. Apple now has iBeacons in its 254 retail locations. And leading retailers like Target, Best Buy, Macy’s, The Sports Authority, American Eagle, Crate and Barrel, JCPenney, and Old Navy have put plans into place to roll out in-store iBeacons in the near future as well. Experts estimate that adoption will be explosive… by as soon as 2015, there could be 20,000+ iBeacon systems deployed throughout the country. And in addition to the thousands of locations that will install these systems, it’s estimated that by 2018 over 800 million mobile devices will be connected to proximity-based information in this way. fool/investor-alert/rule-breakers/so_istore/?source=irbspoeml0002056&u=1936630555 Weve got venture capitalists putting their money in (simultaneously funding future innovation and demand)…
