Well, Chloe gave us a bit of a scare last night with some major - TopicsExpress

Well, Chloe gave us a bit of a scare last night with some major tummy issues. The vets had concern that there may have been a foreign object, and surgery was looking very likely. Thankfully that was not the case, but Chloe was a very sick puppy just the same. She was kept overnight to keep her hydrated and comfortable, and was happily sent home this morning with no less than 6 medications! Chloe is obviously feeling better but I suspect her incessant howling may have taken some part in her quick release. She has never been one to be ignored. :/ In any case, she is now home, and Im tickled by the behaviors of her animal siblings. Though Chloe irritates him to no end, Ponder, her kitty brother, was the first to greet her at the door, rubbing on her legs as she came in. After a quick potty break I settled Chloe back inside where Norma Jean, the kitty sister (who usually ignores the dogs to the best of her ability), showed genuine concern for her sister, gently sniffing at her nose and even touching her with her paw. After that I was amazed to see Ruger, who had already greeted her thoroughly, leave his comfortable couch to instead lay guard on the floor next to his sister. Ruger avoids laying on the ground at all costs (its quite uncomfortable for a large, bony dog), and my heart smiles to see his attention to Chloe. There is some debate about the kinds of emotions animals are capable of, but Im a firm believer there is more to them than we give credit for. I think we are all happy to see her home. Chloe, feeling a little doped up, was momentarily enamored with the ceiling, but is now resting comfortably. Ps. I brought out a second bed for Ruger who now looks infinitely more comfortable. ;)
