Well Family, before I call it a day I wanted to make a few general observations about my visit to Barbados. Compared to Guyana, I find Barbados to be much more British. There is a kind of stiffness and rigidity that I did not find in Guyana. It is also much more developed than Guyana, at least here in Christchurch. There is a significant Rastafarian community in both places. There is a history of resistance in both places with the most significant rebellion in Barbados being that led by Bussa in the 1830s. There are a lot more white people here than in Guyana and so far I have not seen many East Indians, as in Guyana. There is little significant history of Maroon communities in either place.
