Well Gentlemens Pipe Smoking Society we have done it again. Once again someone dared to present their personal view and ask the question what is a gentleman and how should we act/treat each other in a society of gentlemen. As before when this has been attempted the group very quick denigrates into name calling, trollish behavior and increasing levels of insulting personal posts that attack the poster and others in the thread on every level of their personal identity. The impersonal nature of facebook unfortunately allows members to act as total boars and not treat other with the respect they would show in face to face society and as such we in this group quite often act in a most ungentlemanly manner. As I battle my cancer and use my pipe and the communities that revolve around the briar and the leaf as part of my commitment to myself to savor and enjoy life every day while I still have it I simply do not have the energy nor the inclination to spend that remaining life in such company as the one I see often on display here. So I am with Kieth...I am out of here hasta. I will be spending time on the pages that engender respect for one another where I can actually enjoy the company of other pipe smokers and not have to work so hard to sift through the nonsense.
