Well I am back and what an experience I had this week not being on social networking. I am a manager for my company ICS here in Montgomery and it is time to do Performance Management with each of my employees. My team lives in different parts of the USA and Europe. I met and interviewed the guy I hired for Europe, but one of my team who lives here in the USA I never met but always communicated with him via email or phone. But this time I decided I would meet him and fly him out to one of our job locations. Well to my surprise his voice did not fit what I thought he would look like. His voice sounded like he was a nerd and black and small in statured. He is actually white, 6ft 5in and about 300lbs. And a heck of a great guy! I said all of that to say this that it would have been easier to never meet him except by emails and phone. But I wouldnt have never had a real feel for who he truly is in his personality and character. It shows that social networking does give you the wrong impression of people until you meet them FACE to FACE.....I strongly recommend meeting people face to face and now I understand why certain people get the wrong impression before they meet somebody.
