Well I can believe I did this, but last night my partner and I - TopicsExpress

Well I can believe I did this, but last night my partner and I actually went out to the movies and watched the Lone Ranger. With all the brew ha ha over this film and Johnny Depp’s acting as Tonto, I figured I would at least be fair and give Mr. Depp the chance to redeem himself, by seeing his acting in this movie for myself. I have to say, no lie, this was the worst and most offensive movie I have ever watched. Depp’s efforts at what he claimed on several interviews I watched on different talk shows, to raise the level of respect Hollywood should have for Native Americans, was to my eyes and ears the biggest bunch of offensive acting I have seen. I was totally ashamed of his portrayal of not only Tonto but also his portrayal of our people. Even the Lone Ranger in this film was portrayed as a man who was nothing but an idiot. Usually if I have to speak about anything regarding people, I always believed in showing respect and dignity to the person and if anything needs to be spoken about I will address a person’s behavior. Mr. Depp, I believe is a good person and a very fine actor, but his behavior as Tonto in the film is deplorable and his portrayal of himself as an Indian, I found truly offensive. People can say what they wish about whether they liked this film or not. That’s their right. But these are my thoughts after watching this insulting piece of acting.
