Well I finally made it down to my last stop. I left Barrow which is the northern point of the United States. Up there is a lot different than even mid Alaska and south. Eating up there can be a hassle. I did learn a new method for obtaining salmon, let’s just say it’s kinda like playing wack-a-mole with a shot gun. I went up the haul road with a freight company to Deadhorse and then caught a ride to Prudhoe bay. The problem was everbody in Prudhoe works on the oil field. Very few tourist. (I was the only one) There are thousands of people working 12 on and 12 off. They share a bed with their off shift cohart. They work 2 weeks on and then 2 weeks off. On the off weeks they fly home, which is all over the world. The plane bringing their replacements tried to land three times but couldn’t get in, it returned to Fairbanks for fuel and had one try left. It was also our ride out of there. Nobody else was as concerned as I was, They had a bed and food waiting, I had neither and for security reasons couldn’t get on the oil field. Lucky for me it landed second attempt on return. I then made my flight over to Barrow. I hired a local to take me around the place, turned out to be a good investment. I got to see a snowy white owl. I have some pictures to post shortly. Once I flew out to Seattle I rented a vehicle and toured Washington, Oregon, and the northern part of California. Oregon finished an item on my bucket list, which was to see all fifty states before turning 50. Which ain’t far away. I only did day hikes after getting back to the lower 48. I hiked into some waterfalls and other places I wanted to see. I went down the Big Sur highway just because it was there. I was constantly on the go. I sleep very little on these types of trips. Heck I can rest later. San Francisco is a place all to itself. I’ll post about it later as well. I sitting in my motel still to hyper to sleep.
