Well I have just spent 20 minutes trying to get a photo of my beans on toast from my iPhone to my iPad without success so will write a quick update before my credit runs out!! Forgot to say the most exciting part of the bus trip back from Arusha was when we were waved down a bank on the side of the road to let a convoy of vehicles past which was for the Prime Minister (the president is currently in America having an operation on his testicles apparently!!!). Had my second swahili lesson so can now do present, future and past tense and my vocabulary is being supplemented by our neighbours teaching me naughty words!! :-) after watching 2 hours of titanic the other night I realised disc 2 I left behind as its always just extras on disc 2 isnt it??? Well that was wrong as we saw the iceberg hit and then insert disc 2 appeared so Emmanuel has left me drinking milkshakes while he tracks down a copy so he can see the end !! We are in the short rain season now so it rains at night and then is hot during the day. Big differences I have noticed are how nothing is wasted here, Emmanuel teased me that my instinct when the toe on one of my wedge flip flops broke was to bin them but he took them to be repaired and a new piece of leather on the toe of each one has fixed them. Instead of your parents telling you someone in Africa would be grateful for that when you tried to leave food when you were young, Emmanuel makes me feel guilty when I start a new loaf of bread or juice by telling me an african child is crying because you havent finished the other one first which forces me to finish everything first :-) it is also strange that as long as I have 5000 shillings in my purse which is about £2 I am happy as this will pay for a diet coke and a taxi home :-) there is also no mention yet of Christmas, probably because it is not commercial at all over here, gifts can be anything at all and although it felt strange giving someone a toothbrush the other day apparently that is a good gift (although sweets continue to be the gift that gets most excitement :-) my favourite places continue to be Alis hot bread shop for break and cakes and the kilimanjaro coffee lounge for pizza and milk shakes :-) were going to a club tonight called glacier with our neighbours so the silver stilletoes will get an outing oh yeah :-) Emmanuel has painted my nails with pink and black stripes and he is now back with the dvd so we are off to buy beer and vodka so kwa heri :-) xxx
