Well I saw on Columbia Magazine a few days ago a lady discussed the speed limits on Hwy 55 South from Columbia to Hardscratch and I had my doubts that she knew what she was saying. Went that way this afternoon, all the way to my wifes brother-in-laws, Bradshaw Oak Furniture, just north of downtown Hardscratch and that lady was correct. The only speed limit sign I saw (going or coming back) was one near the city limits of Columbia as you head south and it was at 45 MPH limit. There were no others all the way to Bradshaws, so I guess the limit thru 6 miles of county road remains at 45 MPH. This does not match any other road of this type. I am hoping the former mayor of Hardscratch and former State Policeman and cooker of the fish on Friday nights at the Hardscratch Store, Mr Ken Hill can enlighten us on why the slower limits to that fine community.
