Well I seem to star with my organ playing, bell ringing and singing in this video! Please could I ask people to share and help raise the issue of this horrendous situation and crisis. I grew up alongside some of these individuals, have provided respite as houseparent for others and one sings in our church choir. Camphill and this way of life is something that is close to my heart, having lived in a Camphill community for 10 years. I have seen and witnessed Camphill life and also supported living models elsewhere as a social worker and know that the Camphill model allows freedom and a person to flourish as a human being, where they are enabled through their co-workers rather than disabled by systems, procedures and fear of risk taking. Yes Camphill is not perfect, it has its flaws and I left as a result of some of them. Some changes need to happen at times and co-workers need to be open to new ways of working. That said, the ethos and integrity of Camphill must never be lost, that each person be valued and their spirit to shine, that no wage should be exchanged as the value of what can contribute will vary, but in no way is less important than that made by anyone else. If only we could live more by this model.
