Well I think Im finally ready to share about Mary , Mary Flournory, Some of which I decided to share at her funeral. I met Mary in high school and I graduated with her brother Marty Flournory. She was always so happy, always smiling, always so friendly. I saw her here and there through the years when I came back to Dekalb after my years in the service and working as a flight attendant in Chicago, and more recently at kishwaukee college when my son graduated getting his GED. Then 3 months ago our mutual friend Karen Flavin called and said Mary needed help because she had been battling cancer and MS for the last 5 years. I jumped at the chance to help her. I was so wanting to come in and fight this battle with her hoping to turn things around and I will admit I was completely crushed to learn that just wasnt possible. So I resigned myself to the fact that Ill just try and make her last days as best and as comfortable as possible. It was my first experience with cancer and i have to say it was completely heartbreaking seeing her in so much pain . I have to tell you how much i admired her positive attitude about it. She never felt sorry for herself and even kept her sense of humor . The pillar of strength but with that came her suffering which broke my heart. She was a beautiful woman with the most beautiful big brown eyes Ive ever seen . I would tell her I Love her everyday and she would look at me with those big BEAUTIFUL eyes and tell me , I love you too, Tammy. This experience has put my life into perspective and i need to do everything I can to take care of myself and my family . It has brought me back my childhood friends and Ive made new friends, Marys family , her children Alex, Miles, and Andrew brother, Michael Flournory . We will all miss Mary very much , she is so very much loved in so many ways. We are doing a benefit for all the cancer patients at the cancer clinic this June in Marys honor. What I have taken from this is to love like theres no tomorrow, take care of yourself as best you can for you and your family, and if you CAN do what you want to do , do it now !!!!! I love you all so very very much !!!! ❤
