Well, I think its probably open news by now, so Im rather saddened to hear that Avalon Comics has apparently ceased trading. Weve picked up a few of their old customers in the last couple of weeks and a quick Google tells me that their online store is also closed. Much as I learned from some of their other staff members how not to conduct yourself behind a till, as a teenager, Id bunk off school and walk from Putney to Battersea to pick up various comics that still seemed quite exotic to me as they werent put out on the newsagent shelves. Image, Vertigo, that kind of thing. Bruce is an informed and patient chap who was always good with his customers and tried to stock a wide variety of comics. I hope this isnt the end of his career in comics, as he gave a lot of time to a young and nervous kid who was constantly overwhelmed by how big comics is beyond the COMAG imports down my local Londis. Pictured is the 1st comic I ever bought there (Although I picked up Darker Image 1 at the same time, I figured you lot would appreciate this more.) Thanks for the memories, Bruce.
