Well, I think the time has come for some real and positive action - TopicsExpress

Well, I think the time has come for some real and positive action that will hit this government and its decision makers where it hurts and hopefully bring them to their senses. As I see it there is only one way this can be done now and it will test the mettle of our two MP’s. Personally, I don’t trust MP’s as a rule, though David Kidney was exceptional in the way he stood out against the Iraq war and my opinion of him went sky high. Both Jeremy Lefroy and Bill Cash could spectacularly impress if they genuinely supported the ‘Save Stafford Hospital’ campaign. If the decision tomorrow goes the way it inevitably will, as the decision was probably actually made some years ago, and all this froth about enquiries etc. is just a sop to the public, they should BOTH resign their seats as MP’s and call by-elections in each constituency and then stand as independent MP’s. This would have several effects. Firstly, it would be an act of REAL democracy, a way of telling the government that we want OUR money spent the way WE want it spent. Secondly, it would raise the standing of politics in this country to a level that has not been seen since pre-war days. Thirdly, it would show that our MP’s are genuinely committed to this cause. Fourthly, it would secure the place of these two men, should they be brave enough, in history, and fifthly, it would give them permanent seats in their constituencies for as long as they wanted them, and I say that as a lifelong labour supporter. On the other hand, if they walk away from this when the decision is announced, it is unlikely that the 50,000 people who marched will forgive them. Your call guys….
