Well, I think you are going to be the first to know. There will be an announcement today that the CBC has put The Dragon Head Of Hong Kong into development as a limited television series. Karen Walton (writer/producer of Orphan Black among other things) has been pegged as the creator. Shes a tremendous talent and I couldnt be happier with that choice. In fact, I just finished reading the detailed outlines of the first two episodes - # 1 is called Delicacies, and # 2 Connections. Theyre terrific. Sandra Cunningham of Strada Films and Robin Cass of Union Pictures will be involved on the production side. It was decided to start with Dragon Head because theres a ten year gap between it and The Water Rat of Wanchai. This afforded Karen all kinds of story possibilities that didnt infringe on the novels - they are still being preserved for film. As well, there is something absolutely charming about the young Ava - her basic character in place, but searching for ways to fulfill her life.
