Well I thought it was time for an update with Ariana. 14 months - TopicsExpress

Well I thought it was time for an update with Ariana. 14 months ago today my girl ended up in hospital where she still is to this day. This ugly illness called Anti NMDA Encephalitis decided it would take over not only our daughters life but also ours as a whanau. We got told this illness was rare but as of January 2014 it has now been written as no longer rare. My girl is so strong, we have nearly lost her twice. Once with a 30cm DVT from her inner elbow up her arm to her neck and down to her lungs. The other was pneumonia. She has had countless infections..one clears up another one appears, and still my girl keeps fighting. Aside all the ups & downs she has had these last two weeks have been really good. Finally her brain is allowing her to sleep, stay calm 90% of the time. Thats a huge improvement from 14 months ago. People always say or ask that I have huge strength and that they wouldnt be able to cope. My answer... its my child that I carried for 9 months, gave birth to, loved her & always will, gave her the best that we could. As a parent thats what we do for our kids and all this strength just naturally comes. Im just lucky that we have a strong family unit as well as our friends who we call whanau, whether they be here in oz or back home. So a big thanks to everyone for supporting us ;-) it most definitely has been a longggggg road
