Well, I was hoping this was not true but now its been confirmed. A wonderful spirit of a man, an actor fully committed and such a presence. I have a beautiful memory of sitting in a rehearsal room at the Taper and wanting to ask him about Designing Women and he starts talking about being in Hair and all his years of theatre and it was so lovely and moving, his commitment to craft and work, and right at the end, maybe because he sensed that my shallow self just wanted to know about Dixie Carter and Delta Burke, he tells me that Designing Women was his first audition in television and he got it, but his heart was always in the theatre. And then, the stage manager calls him and he stands and shakes my hand. Its for life, dont forget that.
