Well. Im exhausted ... but happily so. Took some time to adjust the new shifter/hub - it wasnt QUITE aligned right, took some finicky fine-tuning, but thanks to some tips I got from Dennis Bresenhan (thanks again!), it was easy-peasy. Bit of fumbling about, some awkward angles for my fingers to turn the twisty-thing that does the adjusting, but nothing complicated. Then I brought the air pressure in my tires up. Big Ben tires are rated for anywhere between 30 and 55 PSI; the shop only put them at 30; yesterday I brought them up to 40; and today, they were brought to 50. And, tired though I still am, 50 was definitely a better ride. Not as cushioned from road bumps, but much easier to pedal up slopes. At one point, I decided to go for a new personal top speed. From a slow rolling start (2mph or so), I got up to 14.5mph before a downslope helped boost me up just a teeny bit OVER 20MPH...!! Awesome! (And thats without fine-tuning the settings of my cycle computer for my _slightly_ bigger tires compared to their preset 20 setting. Honestly, for now at least, Im going to call it close enough ... it cant be off by more than 2% or 3%, really.) But, I wouldnt want to try going that fast in general ... the steering feels VERY twitchy at that speed. On a straight, well-paved road with no traffic .... briefly ... its fun. Trying to dodge road debris and small potholes, with oncoming traffic to worry about, and the road curving to and fro the whole time ... not so much, I think. :D
